MUSCLE MAPPING
OVERVIEW
Muscle mapping uses sports science to attempt to determine as accurately as possible what percentage of the muscle fiber in any given muscle in an athletes body is actively connected to their bodies neurological system. The human body contains over 47 miles of neurological pathways that connects the brain to every muscle in your body. When muscles or specific parts of muscles are not in use for longer periods of time those neurological connections or pathways go dormant, leaving the body unable to access all of the muscle fiber, which decreases strength, speed and performance.

WHY
​Why would you do this test? Muscle mapping can give athletes a complete map of their bodies muscles and how they are performing together. In an athletes body when a tricep is under conditioned, their bicep and other muscles will pick up any slack to perform the sports movement. Using muscle mapping we are able to help produce a picture or map of which muscles are getting a free ride at the expense of other muscles.

Who is this test recommended for? Muscle mapping is recommended for all athletes regardless of their age or the sport they play.

HOW OFTEN
How often should you repeat this test? Muscle mapping is recommended every 6-12 months on any given muscle or group of muscles.

​Which body parts are or can be tested? Muscle mapping can be performed on any muscle in an athletes body.
RESULTS
What are the results of this test? Muscle mapping is scored between 0-9 with the lower the number the more muscle is active in the athletes body.
SUMMARY
What does this help to improve? Muscle mapping gives athletes a numerical map of each muscle percentage neurologically connected to the brain. By placing a small current into the muscle we are able to determine how much or how active the muscle is based on its response to the current.
